Objective is pleased to welcome Timaru District Council to the growing network of councils using Objective Build, as part of their transition to a fully integrated, end-to-end digital consenting system. This important step demonstrates Timaru’s commitment to delivering a more consistent, transparent, and collaborative experience for consent applicants, aligning closely with the national direction set by Minister Penk’s Building Consenting reforms.
Located on the South Island’s east coast, Timaru District is known for its rich agricultural history, strong local industries, and vibrant community life. The Council plays a pivotal role in supporting regional growth and enabling development across the district, processing consents efficiently and effectively to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Reflecting on the transition to Objective Build, Jayson Ellis, Building Control Manager at Timaru District Council, shared:
"The Timaru District Council’s Building Consents team have just transferred their consenting system to Objective Build. Over a number of years, as the Building Control Manager, I have been insisting we achieve a fully integrated end-to-end consenting system that is a consistent and comprehensive process for all users.
I believe I have found this in Objective Build and along with many other councils around the country that have made this move, we are better placed to achieve a more collaborative approach to consenting that is also in line with Minister Penk’s Building Consenting reforms. I am looking forward to how we, along with the Objective team, can develop this consenting system into the future—exciting times ahead!"
Objective is proud to be working alongside Timaru District Council to support their digital transformation journey, and to help build the foundations for future-ready services for their community.
Together with our customers, we are continuing to set a national standard for building consent management, driving consistency, improving governance, and supporting the delivery of better outcomes for councils and communities across New Zealand.
Stay tuned as we continue our journey with Timaru District Council and our partners nationwide, building a stronger future for digital consenting.
