Objective understands that this announcement may create uncertainty for our customers. We are committed to innovating and developing our solutions to be agile and adaptable to your needs, as well as any new MBIE requirements.
Objective is uniquely positioned to respond to these changes and have been working tirelessly to ensure we continue to offer an outstanding consenting solution for both the present and the future.
Trusted Partner in the BCA Reform
Objective is a key stakeholder in MBIE’s reform programme, supporting efforts to streamline the building consent system and make it easier and more affordable for New Zealanders to build, while maintaining high standards of quality.
Our team includes subject matter experts – such as builders, building control officers, architects and building surveyors – who are deeply involved in the development and support of our solutions. We also work closely with MBIE
to clarify areas of inconsistency or misinterpretation prior to development of new features or updates.
Our solution is used across New Zealand, and is the only fully integrated, end-to-end solution – from application lodgement, processing, to the issue of code compliance certificate. Last year, Objective software processed 30,000 building consents, representing approximately 42% of all applications nationwide.
By June 2025, 66% of BCAs in New Zealand will be using Objective Build or will be planning their onboarding project with us. Migration from legacy systems is simple and streamlined.
Future-Ready Innovation
Our solution is designed to adapt to changes in regulation or legislation quickly and consistently, ensuring that BCAs are well equipped to adapt and respond to central government’s proposals. If a single portal is the preferred option for central government, our experience in integrating with ERPs across New Zealand means that we have the confidence and expertise to deliver a fully integrated solution for councils.
Objective is also actively developing further innovation to improve the consenting process. Our team are advancing remote inspections technology
to assist the government’s support for this method, and we expect to release this to our Objective Build solution early next year.
Objective Build's integration with Artisan will be available at the start of 2025, giving councils the option to incorporate their own trusted builders and companies into their inspections process.
We're also using innovative technologies to help solve the most common problems we're seeing in applications – for example, populating application forms from the documents uploaded using AI, to help streamline the process, increase consistency, and improve application quality before it's submitted. This same technology allows us to find missing information from applications, and will help free up Building Surveyors’ time, allowing them to focus on more complex applications.
Our Commitment to Stakeholders
Our goal is to bring consistency, quality, transparency and efficiency for everyone involved in the building application process.
Bringing together councils, architects, designers, builders and owners onto a single platform, Objective Build simplifies every step of the consent process.
