The primary goal of this reform is to guarantee that our buildings are not only structurally sound but also healthy, safe, and durable.
MBIE has identified four key outcomes that they aim to achieve through these reforms:
1. The system is efficient
2. Roles and responsibilities are clear, appropriate and understood,
3. The system is responsive to change and continually improves
4. Regulatory requirements and decisions are robust, predictable, transparent and understood
These four outcomes align seamlessly with Objective Build's four core pillars: consistency, transparency, quality, and efficiency. Our team are committed to responding proactively to the ongoing system review and are dedicated to providing software that aligns with these outcomes.
New building product regulations: a significant change on the horizon
In June 2022, new regulations pertaining to building product information were introduced, with an effective date of December 11, 2023. These regulations apply to designated building products manufactured in, or imported into, Aotearoa New Zealand.
These regulations place responsibilities on various stakeholders in the construction industry, including New Zealand-based manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, retailers, and distributors. Manufacturers and importers of designated building products are now required to compile and disclose crucial information about their products. This information includes details about product performance and compliance with the New Zealand Building Code.
These changes mark a significant step towards enhancing transparency and accountability within the construction sector. As we move forward, it's crucial for all industry players to stay informed and actively engage with these evolving regulations to ensure a safer and more efficient construction landscape for all.
Stay tuned for further updates and insights as we navigate these changes together.
