Ben Hobby, Global VP of RegTech at Objective will be hosting a Government focused panel discussion. Including:

  • The importance of adopting RegTech early for a new regulator
  • The benefits and barriers to RegTech adoption
  • The future potential of RegTech
  • Advice for those beginning their RegTech journeys

This session is specifically for government regulators and is an invitation-only lunch. When registering for the conference you’ll need to specify that you’d like to attend.

Jessica Downey

Assistant Director, Wage Theft – Wage Inspectorate Victoria

Jessica Downey is the Assistant Director, Wage Theft, and an authorised Inspector at Wage Inspectorate Victoria. Jessica played a key role in the operational establishment of a wage theft investigations team, joining the organisation in April 2021.

Jessica is also Acting Assistant Director for the Wage Inspectorate’s Child Employment Team and has played a significant role in establishing the team’s approach to proactive compliance campaigns.

Jordan Hatch

Assistant Secretary, Regulatory Technology and Innovation – Department of Finance

Jordan Hatch leads the Regulatory Technology and Innovation Branch at the Australian Government Department of Finance. Jordan has wide experience in digital government, including roles at the Government Digital Service in the United Kingdom, the inaugural Digital Transformation Office in Australia, and as an advisor to Victor Dominello MP, the former New South Wales Minister for Customer Service. Most recently, Jordan led the technology and digital identity streams of the myGov User Audit, supporting an expert panel led by David Thodey AO.

Simon Corden

Public Policy Consultant

Simon Corden has worked in the area of regulatory policy and practice for more than 20 years across a diverse range of subject areas.

Simon’s previous roles include senior executive positions in the Victorian Department of Premier and Cabinet, and Department of Treasury and Finance, the Victorian Competition and Efficiency Commission, Worksafe Victoria and the Productivity Commission. He has been a consultant to the OECD and drafted the OECD’s guidance on the governance of regulators. From 2011 to 2019 he was a Director in KPMG Australia’s public policy practice, working on nearly 60 regulatory projects. He was Chair of the ANZSOG auspiced National Regulators’ Community of Practice until September 2021.

He is currently a part-time commissioner at Victoria’s Essential Services Commission and a public policy consultant.
